This tidbit of information comes to you from a physical therapist I had back in Maryland:
Knitting and crocheting injuries have their own ICD code. “2015 ICD-9-CM Diagnosis Code E012.0: Activities involving knitting and crocheting.” This code will be replaced by the equivalent 2015 ICD-10-CM Code of Y93.D1 when the US makes the transition on October 1, 2015. (more…)
There is something you must understand about Ravelry. It’s like Wikipedia for people who play with yarn. You go there looking for one specific thing, and five hours later, you’re looking at something that couldn’t possibly be more different than your original goal, and you have absolutely no idea how you got there. This blog post shall detail just a short trip a friend and I took through the Ravelry wormhole today. The whole conversation took place in less than two hours, with much of that time spent with one or the other of us not at the keyboard, or discussing terminal emulation issues, or bemoaning Kids These Days™, or the best way to feed pills to finicky cats. So, really, no time at all.

As you are likely aware, I recently rewatched all of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. If you watch either show, then you know that the character of Spike is played by James Marsters. As it turns out, Mr. Marsters is also the narrator of the Dresden Files audiobooks (my current audiobook series). Having finished up my Buffy and Angel marathon (254 combined episodes in 7 weeks == insanity, by the way), I’ve switched obsessions to Arrow. On this show, the role of Quentin Lance is played by Paul Blackthorne… who played Harry Dresden in short-lived Dresden Files TV series.
I know the world is small, and that sticking in the sci-fi/fantasy/comic book world makes it even smaller, but this is getting kind of silly.
Further enabling my growing Funko Pop! addiction, G has added to my collection with a dancing baby Groot! (I am Groot!) Clearly, the only sensible thing to do was to give stewardship of the One Ring to Groot. Sauron (predictably enough) is not amused. (more…)
In the ‘Lineage‘ episode of Angel, we are introduced to Roger Wyndam-Price, Wesley’s father. The character is played by Roy Dotrice, who narrated the A Song of Ice and Fire audiobooks. He has a very distinctive voice, and after scores of hours listening to him voice dozens of characters, I know it well, and apparently recognize it very quickly.
I was doing some research on Dropbox, and a warning came up that some of my files aren’t being synced because of bad characters in the file names. I clicked on the link to start the “Incompatible files and folders” tool. Once it got started, this status message popped up:

I told a friend that I had a Hurricane Iniki story that was too long to type in over the phone, and that I would type it in once I was at a real computer. As I find myself at a computer…
TL; DR: meri almost missed a hurricane by not coming out of her apartment. It’s not a very good story, but it amuses me, for some reason.
