Query of the day: Past tense of ‘troubleshoot’.

Not necessarily asking for the dictionary response, but rather what people actually use.

Neither ‘troubleshooted’ nor ‘troubleshot’ sound right, though ‘troubleshot’ sounds less wrong.

Attempting to recreate a long-lost mixed tape.

I posted this on Facebook this other day:

And the rest of the day was good, too.

Jenn and I did, in fact, spend the rest of the day relaxing with a vengeance. We watched a couple of movies, geeked, and crafted. Eventually we (and Jim) went out for a very tasty dinner at Akira Sushi in Ashburn, and then went wandering the beer aisle at Wegmans, searching for Crabbie’s Ginger Beer and dessert. Returning home, there was television, and dessert, and incredibly tasty ginger beer before sleep.

At 4:45 this morning, I was suddenly very awake, for no good reason. So, I drove home (getting stuck in a traffic jam on the inner loop courtesy of a jack-knifed tractor-trailer).

Now, listening to my beloved audiobooks, and stitching and geeking. (Thanks to my wonderful boy, my new setup in my basement lets me switch between stitching and geeking by simply swiveling my chair.) Today promises to be busy, but in a good way. Hopefully, this run of good days will carry through the weekend. And who knows? Maybe even into the week beyond!

Switching between stitching and geeking requires only a swivel of the chair.

Switching between stitching and geeking requires only a swivel of the chair.

Not a bad way to spend (part of) a day.

I’ve made my way down to Virginia, and have gone with Jenn to get our nails done, and then went and had lunch with a friend and former co-worker who we haven’t seen in far too long. (Hi, gnat!)

Now we’re back at Jenn’s house, and preparing for a hard afternoon of relaxation.

Signs I’m getting old: Part n+1.

I’m having to take off my glasses for up close work. Which means that, when I’m stitching or working on any sort of detailed charting, I’m switching back and forth between having glasses and not, a lot.

Even though my knee is better (*knock on wood*), I still think I need a cane.

Weekend update.

Saturday’s excursion to Maryland Sheep and Wool was a success. Terri and I got there very early (as in, an hour before the show even opened), so parking was a breeze. (Even though we were misguided when we asked to be directed to handicapped parking.) The weather was fantastic. My knee mostly behaved. We were able to find seating when I needed it. And, best of all, there was lots and lots of beautiful yarn.

After a few hours of tromping around the fair, Terri and I made our way back out to the car. As we were leaving, we discovered that it was a very good thing that we arrived early. The fairground’s parking lot was overflowing, and they were parking people across the street. And that doesn’t even begin to cover the 3 mile backup on the one-lane road to get to the fairground. It has been decided that an early arrival will always be part of our plan in the future.

Upon arriving home, there was napping, and dinner, and then sleeping. I had really hoped to go to a little party at a friend’s house last night, but it seems it was not to be. I was tired, and don’t even remember waking up in the middle of the night, which is very rare for me.

I expected waking up this morning to be a painful experience, what with all of the walking yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a bit of stiffness, but no extra pain. I spent a couple of hours hooked up to the Magic Ice Machine™, and I could walk up and down stairs like a (reasonably) normal person. (Yes, yes, clearly an act.)

I have a productive day lined up today, with laundry, and a project, and preparing for a very busy Monday. The house is a lovely chilly temperature, thanks to open windows and a drop in outdoor temperatures. I’m feeling somewhat energetic (a surprise), and I’m staring to ponder lunch (also something of a surprise). I got in a couple of hours of knitting on my Clara while hooked up to the ice machine.

I’m hopeful for the day, and am smugly pleased with yesterday. Can’t really ask much more of a weekend.

Got Drugs?

No. Seriously. That’s the name of the program.

If your household is like ours, you probably have a useless (to you) prescription medication or two kicking around. (Ok, if your household is like ours, you have a LOT of them kicking around. But I’m hoping you haven’t gone around the ‘which med will work’ wheel quite as much as we have.) You want to get rid of it, but you’re not sure how to do so in a manner that doesn’t involve turning yourself into a dealer or giving your local water supply a healthy dose of pharmacology. Turns out, there an appgovernment program for that. It’s called (I kid you not) “Got Drugs?

Every now and then, they have a drug take-back day, where you can bring in your unneeded prescription medications and turn them over to people who presumably have some idea of how to dispose of them legally and in a reasonably environmentally-friendly manner. The next upcoming take-back day is Saturday, April 27th, 2013. Follow the link on this page to be taken to the search engine to find a take back location near you. (I’d link to the page directly, but they have a silly cookie-based session timeout thing.)

Good morning, Interwebs.

It’s a beautiful Friday outside (at least, here in the DC metro area). What fun and exciting things do you have planned for today? This weekend?

I’ll just be here, hiding in this corner.

G has turned into a whirling dervish of home improvement. So far, in the past 24 hours, he has:

  • taken out a bathroom sink;
  • taken out a bathroom medicine cabinet;
  • painted the entire aforementioned bathroom white;
  • installed a new sink;
  • installed a new medicine cabinet;
  • painted a contrast wall in said bathroom (bright blue! pretty!);
  • taken all the doors off of our upper cabinets in the kitchen;
  • painted the cabinet boxes black; and
  • painted the cabinet doors white.

I believe he’s still waiting on the last coat of white to dry. I’m not 100% sure. I’ve decided that hiding in my basement craft room is probably the safest thing to do, lest I be painted myself. (Hey, don’t laugh! Sprocket apparently had to have an impromptu bath this morning. Though, I believe Sprocket was more responsible for introducing himself to the paint, rather than with any direct involvement on G’s part.)

Monday, again.

This weekend has felt as thought it’s been full of Mondays. Thus, it seems incredibly unfair to have two days of Mondays followed up by an actual, everybody agrees it’s Monday Monday.

Stupid Mondays.
